Abstract

The effects of polarisation potential in scattering of positrons by magnesium is investigated by performing elastic scattering calculations using the distorted wave method. The two potential formalism is employed in which the residual interaction may include or exclude polarisation potential. Differential cross sections as well as integral elastic cross sections have been calculated at incident energies between 10 eV and 200 eV for both cases. Results show that low energy cross sections are more sensitive to the polarisation potential. It is shown that the polarisation potential has a significant influence on differential cross sections at small angles.
