Women’s Economic Empowerment (KU-WEE) is a KU-WEE Hub journal. The hub was established through a grant from The Gates Foundation to generate evidence on what works to advance Women’s Economic Empowerment in Kenya. The Kenyatta University Women’s Economic Empowerment (KU-WEE) Hub, aims to ensure that interested parties such as relevant authorities - ministries and departments, county governments, policy leaders, implementing agencies and donors utilize empirical evidence to implement and shape policies, programs, interventions and advocacy efforts related to supporting women’s economic empowerment (WEE). An important aspect in this Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation project is the research that is currently being undertaken on various thematic areas as well as developing partnerships with a diversity of stakeholders. There is a dearth of academic outlets for this kinds of research output in the region. This makes establishing a journal an appropriate endeavour because it will benefit a wide range of audience from the findings and new knowledge on women economic empowerment.
